Psychiatric Specialty Clinic

We often think that visiting a psychiatrist is only necessary when experiencing serious mental health issues. This misconception prevents us from acknowledging and addressing the emotional and behavioral difficulties we may be going through. At Minh Tri, we approach consultations, diagnosis, and counseling in an open and systematic manner, allowing clients to feel more comfortable. We not only focus on identifying disorders but also discuss with clients/patients a variety of support strategies and treatments that are tailored to each individual’s needs.

How does a psychiatrist examine and diagnose?

At Minh Tri, psychiatrists not only conduct consultations but also provide thorough discussions, diagnoses, and counseling for their patients. To achieve this, the service process includes:

  • Collecting patient information through interviews (with both the patient and their family), as well as direct observation of the patient.
  • Examining deeper aspects of the brain and psychological functions by ordering and reviewing results from EEG (electroencephalogram), ECG (electrocardiogram), and in-depth psychological tests.
  • Establishing a diagnosis and differentiating between various mental disorders (if any) according to the International Classification of Diseases by the World Health Organization (ICD-10). The diagnosis must be based on discussions with the patient. In the case of children, this involves discussions with their parents or guardians.
  • Identifying the pathophysiological hypotheses.
  • Counseling on comprehensive treatment strategies for the patient, prescribing medication if necessary, or recommending other treatment techniques (if needed).
  • Advising the patient on preventive methods for mental disorders.
  • A single consultation, diagnosis, and treatment counseling session with a psychiatrist at Minh Tri typically lasts around 15 to 30 minutes (it may extend longer if needed).

What treatments do psychiatrists use?

At Minh Tri, the primary focus of treatment is the patient’s/client’s active involvement and the diversification of treatment methods. Therefore, in addition to updating and prescribing medications for mental disorders, doctors also frequently monitor the patient’s physical responses to provide timely advice. During the prescription process, the psychiatrist and the patient often collaborate closely to understand the effects of the medication on each individual, as well as the associated risks and benefits. The doctor will regularly assess and monitor the patient based on ongoing collaboration.
